Cancellation of the Boys of Tommen series.
Today, February 11, 2026, Chloe Walsh, the Irish author of the famous Boys of Tommen book series, announced terrible news. The book series, adapted in Ireland between the 1990s and 2000s, is getting a Prime Video adaptation. We, as a fandom, know how incredibly heavy these books are and how the target audience received them. Topics such as domestic violence, physical and mental abuse, family neglect, suicidal thoughts, hunger, and poverty are just the tip of the iceberg in the first book of the series. Such serious and important issues have, in recent months, been falling into the hands of much younger and more childish readers! The books are rated 16+, however neither the author nor the publisher filter or inform their readers about these topics before reading. Can you imagine this on your TV? Without the slightest tact or preparation necessary for both the audience and the media? There is no possibility of Boys of Tommen being a well-made and successful series; themes and narratives that work in the book will be distorted or shortened in the adaptation. A book of over 700 pages in a 1-hour episode will not be well done. Therefore, this petition was created so that the author and the studio understand that we do not want a poorly made adaptation of one of the public's favorite series.
Below, I will leave the synopsis of the first book in the series.
Binding 13 by Chloe Walsh
"They are from opposites sides of the track - but when their two worlds collide, nothing will ever be the same again.
Johnny Kavanagh has everything going for him. On the rugby pitch, he’s a force to be reckoned with. Primed for stardom, he’s heading straight for the top. Nothing can possibly get in his way, right? Not even the shy new girl at Tommen College. The one with the sad eyes and hidden bruises. The one that distracts him like no one ever has.
Life has never been easy for Shannon Lynch. Bullied and tortured, she arrives at Tommen College mid-way through the school year praying for a fresh start and desperate to shake off the demons that plague her. On her very first day at the prestigious private school, she comes into contact with the notorious Johnny Kavanagh. Thrown through a hoop over her feelings for him, and desperate to keep a low-profile, Shannon finds herself once again the target of bullies as she forms a fragile alliance with rugby’s rising star.
Falling into a complicated friendship and grappling with their undeniable chemistry, Johnny and Shannon could never have foreseen the obstacles that will threaten their blossoming relationship..."
Here we see a shallow synopsis that doesn't warn the reader about the triggers or Shannon's serious problems; the reader is caught off guard throughout the book, which would be dangerous on TV.
